He has been consulting for the last 12 years, focussing on market and economic analysis of tourism attraction business cases and tourism policy development.

He is a regular advisor to government and industry on the economic impact of the visitor economy. Karl introduced the national tourism forecasting system.

In the last year, Karl has produced over 30 reports for either State-wide, tourism region, local government or industry sector clients forecasting and outlining the expected recovery path of the visitor economy from COVID impacts and what clients can do to fast track visitor economy recovery.
